One of our clients sponsored a pizza lunch today for our engineering/drafting department in thanks for the work we’ve done over the last few years for him. Part way through the lunch it’s announced that he is also sponsoring building a school in Bosnia and is seeking donations. The appropriate amount suggested would be what it would have cost to go out for lunch today instead of a “free” lunch. If I had been aware of the attached strings I would have passed on the pizza.
If he’s that keen to buy a school in Bosnia why not just send the money directly there and skip our “free” lunch? Guess he was wanting to use the same money twice and make himself look like the “good” guy.
